Diagnostic Testing for Pets
Accurate diagnosis is an important part of veterinary care. Our clinic provides a range of diagnostic tests to help identify illness, investigate symptoms and monitor your pet’s health. Many tests can be performed in-house, allowing faster results and helping our veterinarians make timely decisions about treatment and ongoing care.
General Radiography (X-rays)
General radiography uses X-rays to produce images of bones and internal structures. It is commonly used to diagnose fractures, arthritis, swallowed objects, and some chest or abdominal conditions.
Oral Radiography (Dental X-rays)
Dental X-rays allow veterinarians to examine the teeth and jaw structures below the gum line. They help detect dental disease, tooth root infections, fractures, and other problems that cannot be seen during a standard oral exam.
Microscopy
Microscopy involves examining samples such as skin scrapings, ear swabs, blood smears or cell samples under a microscope. This helps identify parasites, bacteria, yeast, inflammation and abnormal cells.
Sonography (Ultrasound)
Ultrasound uses sound waves to create real-time images of internal organs. It is commonly used to examine the heart, liver, kidneys, bladder and abdomen, and can assist with diagnosing many internal conditions.
ECG
An electrocardiogram (ECG) records the electrical activity of the heart. It is used to detect abnormal heart rhythms and assess heart function.
Tonometer (Eye Pressure Testing)
A tonometer measures the pressure inside the eye. This test helps diagnose conditions such as glaucoma and other eye diseases that affect eye pressure.
In-House Blood Machines
In-clinic blood testing equipment allows rapid analysis of blood samples. This helps assess organ function, detect infection or inflammation, and provide quick results when pets are unwell or before surgery.
Sedivue for Urinalysis
The Sedivue system analyses urine samples using automated microscopy. It helps identify crystals, bacteria, blood cells and other abnormalities to assist in diagnosing urinary tract and kidney conditions.
